Ajay Devgn, one of Bollywood's most successful actors boasting of a fan following across all generations today, was born on April 2, 1969, in a Punjabi family from Delhi that originally hailed from Amritsar. The family shifted to Mumbai later (All photos/Instagram, mid-day archives and Yogen Shah)

Ajay Devgn's father Veeru Devgan was a stunt and action coordinator and his mother Veena Devgan is a producer. In fact, Ajay was introduced in his Bollywood debut Phool Aur Kaante as Veeru Devgan's son

Ajay Devgn made his debut as a child artiste with the 1985 film Pyaari Behna. The actor, who played a young Mithun Chakraborty in the film, was credited as Master Chotu

Ajay Devgn made his Bollywood debut in a leading role with Phool Aur Kaante in 1991 and went on to star in many films such as Dilwale, Vijaypath, Suhag and many others during the 90s

Talking about Ajay Devgn's love life, he met his future wife Kajol for the first time during the filming of the 1995 film Gundaraj. Their relationship grew steadily since then and they became the talk of the town

Before marrying, Ajay Devgn and Kajol acted together in films like Ishq, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Dil Kya Kare among others

Ajay Devgn and Kajol tied the knot on February 24, 1999, in a private ceremony, which was attended by their family members

Ajay Devgn and Kajol were blessed with daughter Nysa in April 2003 and they welcomed son Yug in September 2010

This portrait of Ajay Devgn and Kajol's son Yug and daughter Nysa is simply adorable. Ajay Devgn and Kajol love spending time with their kids and often ensure they are home with them after wrapping up work

Unlike other celebrity couples, Ajay Devgn and Kajol had kept Nysa and Yug away from the media glare initially but they are now seen accompanying their parents at parties and other social events.

Much like the children of other Bollywood celebrities, Nysa and Yug, get a lot of media attention

Lately, Ajay Devgn's daughter Nysa has become a fashionista with a huge fan following on Instagram. She even has various fan club accounts on Instagram

Talking about the same, Ajay told mid-day in an interview, "I don't know much about her fan following, but why do you say that she's a fashionista? She is definitely well-attired because today's generation is like this. I think Nysa is classy in her dressing sense and has good taste. Nysa does her own thing and none of us, including Kajol, interfere"

Talking about Nysa, Ajay Devgn was asked if he will allow his daughter to a have career in the film industry if she opts for it. Here's what he said in an interview in 2018, "I won't be able to stop her, but right now, she doesn't want to become an actor. Of course, tomorrow cannot be predicted. Nysa is just 15 years old and is busy with her tenth grade in Singapore"

While some celebrity parents are comfortable with their kids getting media attention, Ajay says, 'When I ask Nysa not to go somewhere because of the media, how do I respond when she tells me, 'papa all my friends are going there. Am I not supposed to go anywhere?' How can that be their life? We chose to be actors and are accepting of the media glare, but our children didn't sign up for it'

Though Ajay Devgn and Kajol are now getting accustomed to the media glare, when Nysa and Yug are targeted by social media trolls, it definitely affects them. In an interview with IANS, Devgn, a protective father, said social media users should not judge his children

He said, 'Judge me but don't judge my kids. Kajol and I are the actors, judge us...it's because of us, our children are under the spotlight every time. Being judgmental about someone is not a good thing. If I start passing judgement on someone, that person would obviously feel bad...so do my children'

Asked about how Nysa deals with harsh comments by social media users, Ajay Devgn said, 'She used to get upset over trolling earlier, but now she doesn't care about it anymore. She knows how to deal with it. She has accepted that there will be some people who will keep judging no matter what'

Kajol had revealed earlier that hubby Ajay Devgn was most affected by daughter Nysa's decision to study overseas

The couple completed 23 years of marital bliss on February 24, 2023. Although their off-screen pairing looks perfect, Ajay Devgn and Kajol couldn't work their magic on screen in films like U Me Aur Hum and Raju Chacha, which didn't fare well at the box office

However, Ajay Devgn and Kajol's collaboration for the period film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior turned out to be a huge winner!

The audience gave thumbs up to not only the film, but also the couple's on-screen chemistry

Here's wishing Yug Devgan a very happy birthday!
