Phool Aur Kaante: Ajay's bike stunt introduction in his debut film remains fresh as ever. The movie, in which Ajay played the son of a dreaded don, set the tone for action hero image.

Jigar: In this martial arts action-romance, Ajay is pitted against a gangster, and shows the heart to fight evil in society. The film was the actor's second success after Phool Aur Kaante.

Vijaypath: A revenge saga in which Ajay takes on the might of a dreaded criminal yet again, Vijaypath was among the most successful movies in its time.

Diljale: Portraying a normal college-goer, who is forced to turn terrorist due to unforeseeable circumstances, Ajay pitches in a highly competent performance again.

Company: In this highly-stylised RGV gangster film, Ajay plays the leader of a major underworld outfit with utmost panache.

The Legend of Bhagat Singh: Ajay made a serious impression as the legendary freedom fighter in this biopic directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

Deewangee: The thriller brought out a totally different shade of Ajay. In a brilliant negative act, Ajay portrays a scheming criminal, who gets himself acquitted of murder in spite of being caught red-handed at the scene of the crime.

Gangaajal: As the brutally honest cop, who takes on the unbelievably corrupt system in Bihar, Ajay breathes life into his character.

Khakee: Yet again, Ajay springs a surprise. Playing an ex-police officer turned dreaded criminal, the actor is convincing in his unabashedly cruel avatar.

Yuva: In spite of a poorly-etched character, Ajay managed to rise above the mundane and deliver an impactful performance as the influential student leader.

Shikhar: The film may have bombed at the box office, but Ajay held his own as the scheming businessman, who wants to achieve more power at any cost, putting aside all ethics.

Omkara: Vishal Bhardwaj's outstanding adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, Ajay slipped into the character of a bahubali, the leader of a gang that executes political crimes for a politician, with utmost ease.

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai: Portraying the character of a smuggler, loosely based on Haji Mastan, Ajay was top-rate in terms of his acting as well as mannerisms.

Singham: It seems this role was written keeping Ajay in mind. The actor donned the uniform of an honest cop again, and was in his element throughout the film. Whether it was the exaggerated fight sequences or his run-ins with the villain Prakash Raj, Ajay's performance spelt perfection.

Bol Bachchan: This film furthered Ajay's image as a romantic-comic hero. As the big-shot of a village, the actor was a complete natural.

Son Of Sardaar: In his home production, Ajay was lovable as the Sardar who falls in love with a girl from the very family that is baying for his blood, but manages to win them over in the end.

Satyagraha: Ajay Devgn held his own by delivering a riveting performance as an ambitious capitalist in this Prakash Jha multi-starrer, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Manoj Bajpayee and Arjun Rampal.

Drishyam: Ajay Devgn's convincing portrayal as a man who would go to any means to protect his family, even covering up an unwitting murder committed by his loved ones, was praised by fans and critics alike.

Shivaay: This action-thriller which was shot extensively in Bulgaria saw Ajay Devgn don different acts - actor, producer and director. The film went head to head with Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and bagged the National Film Award for Best Visual Effects.

Baadshaho: Ajay Devgn again impressed fans and critics in this multi-starrer heist film set in the emergency era of 1975-77, with a cast containing the likes of Vidyut Jamwal, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Ileana D'Cruz and others. The film went on to do well at the box-office.

Raid: This film, which saw him portraying a no-nonsense income tax officer, was met with positive reviews from critics and had a strong going at the box-office. He reunited with Baadshaho co-star Ileana D'Cruz for the film.

De De Pyaar De: Ajay Devgn won hearts for this rom-com, making it a box office winner. De De Pyaar De was about Ajay's character, Ashish (50) falling in love with Rakul Preet's character, Ayesha (26). The lead couple in the film lives in London. Ajay is seen portraying a divorcee with two children, who are as young as Rakul's character. Tabu essays the role of Ajay's ex-wife.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior: Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was loved by audiences across all quarters. In fact, the film was still running in some theatres in metro cities, as a lot of people were still going out to watch it and re-watch it too until the pandemic hit the globe. The film surpassed all the expectations and emerged as a much bigger and grander hit than what the trade predicted.
