Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai: Portraying the character of a smuggler, loosely based on Haji Mastan, Ajay was top-rate in terms of his acting as well as mannerisms.

Singham: It seems this role was written keeping Ajay in mind. The actor donned the uniform of an honest cop again, and was in his element throughout the film. Whether it was the exaggerated fight sequences or his run-ins with the villain Prakash Raj, Ajay's performance spelt perfection.

Drishyam: Ajay Devgn's convincing portrayal as a man who would go to any means to protect his family, even covering up an unwitting murder committed by his loved ones, was praised by fans and critics alike.

Shivaay: This action-thriller which was shot extensively in Bulgaria saw Ajay Devgn don different acts - actor, producer and director. The film went head to head with Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and bagged the National Film Award for Best Visual Effects.

Baadshaho: Ajay Devgn again impressed fans and critics in this multi-starrer heist film set in the emergency era of 1975-77, with a cast containing the likes of Vidyut Jamwal, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Ileana D'Cruz and others. The film went on to do well at the box-office.

Raid: This film, which saw him portraying a no-nonsense income tax officer, was met with positive reviews from critics and had a strong going at the box-office. He reunited with Baadshaho co-star Ileana D'Cruz for the film.

De De Pyaar De: Ajay Devgn won hearts for this rom-com, making it a box office winner. De De Pyaar De was about Ajay's character, Ashish (50) falling in love with Rakul Preet's character, Ayesha (26). The lead couple in the film lives in London. Ajay is seen portraying a divorcee with two children, who are as young as Rakul's character. Tabu essays the role of Ajay's ex-wife.
