What's it about: This one has 12 interwoven stories. Stories we may or may not be familiar with. Stories that have made headlines. Stories that have some resonance. The stories behind those stories even.
It is a story of one day in the life of a dozen in Mumbai. A la Crash, they set out starting to do something, but end up doing something else altogether. The film's characters go through communal, racial, gender, language and even the immigrant biases we hear so much about.
What's hot: It's relevant, earnest and topical. And then there's the star cast. Most of these guys are known for their intensity. hard to go wrong when you have powerful performers
What's not: N Chandra returns after a long hiatus. During all that time, Madhur filled the void that Chandra's realistic yet gritty cinema, left behind. We're now so used to these 'real stories' ending badly that a happy ending' seems almost unreal.
Also, there are several characters who really didn't do much for the film and could have been done without.
That said, the film is a tad long and tedious.
What to do: In looking for hope where there is none, it strikes a chord. A one-time watch.
