Indian art director and film producer Nitin Chandrakant Desai was found dead at his N D Studio in Karjat. At age 57, he left a significant legacy in Indian cinema with his remarkable work in Marathi and Hindi films. Nitin's contributions include iconic movies like âHum Dil De Chuke Sanam', âDevdas', âJodhaa Akbar', and âLagaan', among others.
Throughout his illustrious career spanning two decades, Nitin collaborated with esteemed directors such as Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. His exceptional talent in production design earned him numerous accolades, with four National Film Awards for Best Art Direction and three Filmfare Best Art Direction Awards.
In 2002, Nitin took a leap into film production with 'Desh Devi', a devotional film centered around the Devi Mata of Kutch, through his production company Chandrakant Productions. His creative vision extended beyond cinema, and in 2005, he established ND Studios, sprawling over 52 acres in Karjat, near Mumbai. The studio served as a prominent backdrop for various film projects like 'Traffic Signal', and the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss'.
The reports of Nitin Desai's passing has sent shockwaves across the industry and among his countless admirers. While the police have yet to disclose specific details regarding the circumstances of his death, preliminary reports indicate that he may have died by suicide.
