When Karan Johar convinced Janhvi Kapoor's parents for Simmba

Last year, mid-day had reported that Janhvi Kapoor is likely to star alongside Ranveer Singh in Rohit Shetty's cop film, Simmba, a
remake of the Telugu film, Temper (2015).

But her parents, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, apparently had reservations about the project. They had watched the original and felt that the heroine's role was limited in scope.

But filmmaker Karan Johar, whose Dhadak marks Janhvi's Bollywood debut, convinced her parents. Since KJo is also co-producing Simmba, he assured them that the newbie's role would be meatier than Kajal Aggarwal's in the original.
