He has worked in popular television shows such as Mahi Way, Kismat, and Naamkarann amongst others and web-shows like The Verdict - State vs Nanavati and Taish. Viraf Patell is now excited as his turn to weave magic in Bollywood draws closer. The actor is all set to make his silver screen debut with the upcoming film Koi Jaane Naa, helmed by actor-turned-director Amin Hajee. The psychological thriller marks the latter's directorial debut and sees superstar Aamir Khan in a cameo.
Talking about how he bagged the film, Viraf said, "So, here is a story I love telling everyone. Aamir (Khan) sir is responsible for me being in the film. A while back, I had a lovemaking scene coming up for a web series. There was a visible cyst on my lower torso skin. I had minor surgery to have that cyst removed before the shoot of those intimate scenes. Post-surgery, that night around 5 am, the anaesthesia wore off and I was in severe pain and I decided to watch an interview of Aamir Khan by Mayank Shekhar, to distract myself from the pain. In the interview, Aamir sir mentioned how a friend gave him some cool advice to fix a problem he was facing during the Taare Zameen Par edit. I remember thinking highly of that friend and Aamir sir said his friend's name was Amin Hajee."
"12 hours later my designer friend, Nivedita Saboo, calls me and says 'I want you to speak to a new filmmaker am styling for. He has seen your work and wants you for a part'. I asked for that filmmaker's name and it turned out to be Amin Hajee. I told Amin Hajee, listen I don't care what you are going to ask me to do in your film, I don't even want money for your film and I don't want to know your script, but am doing it. Amin asked 'Why?' and I told him what were the chances that I would be hearing Aamir Khan praising you in an interview and you calling me 12 hours later for a part in your film. Soon I found myself on set shooting with Aamir sir and I told him how he was responsible for me to be a part of this film."
Incidentally, the actress with whom Viraf had to do the intimate scenes with was Elli Avrram, who too is part of Amin Hajee's Koi Jaane Naa. Elli is seen in the special song 'Har fun Maula' with Aamir Khan in the film. "So, yes, serendipity and Aamir sir are responsible for me to be a part of this film," added Viraf.
"Amin decided to insert my character in the opening song Har fun Maula as well. I don't know what I am doing in the song when these two cool folks Elli Avrram and Aamir Khan are dancing, but I am there. Thanks to that, I got a chance to meet and see Aamir sir at work."
