Over the past few days, all eyes were on Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh and Vir Das. Shefali earned a nomination at the International Emmy Awards 2023 for her performance in Delhi Crime 2, and Jim for his portrayal of Homi Bhabha in Rocket Boys, while Vir made the cut for his comedy show, Vir Das: Landing. On Tuesday, India woke up to the good news that Vir had bagged the Emmy, with his show emerging the joint winner with the UK show, Derry Girls season 3. Unfortunately, Shefali and Jim lost to Karla Souza and Martin Freeman respectively. Hours after the Emmy win, when mid-day connected with Vir, he said, "I was not expecting to win. I had two things in my mind, my job was to be Shefali's cheerleader. I think she is one of the finest actors of her generation and deserves the awards. The comedy category is a wonderful category, it allows underdogs to punch above their weight in a certain sense. Laughter is laughter, so a small standup show can be nominated along with Derry Girls, which is a massive global show." The stand-up comedian said that his first reaction on hearing his name as the winner was that of shock. He added, "I went up and said a lot of things that I remember nothing about. I panicked when I came down. It was surreal. When I came down from the stage, I checked with the Netflix team if I had thanked my wife, the platform, and the academy."

During his chat show Koffee with Karan a couple of weeks ago, Karan Johar told Bobby Deol how Ranbir Kapoor had been praising him after working with him on Animal. Not surprising then, that the two actors' mutual admiration and bonding was clearly evident when they recently got together to promote their upcoming movie helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. RK revealed that he has been an avid fan of his Bobby's wardrobe, particularly drawing inspiration from the iconic blue sunglasses he sported in Barsaat and Soldier. Bobby reiterated his love and admiration not only for Ranbir, but also his actor-wife Alia Bhatt. Interestingly, the two actors are pitted against each other in Animal.
Over a week since Kamal Haasan turned 69, a festival of his films seems to continue in cinemas. First, his Virumaandi was re-released on his birthday. Now, the remastered version of Aalavandhan is set to arrive in theatres on December 8. While a newly revealed poster reaffirms the release date, the makers recently launched the lyric video of the song, Kadavul pathi, from the film. That's not all. Anticipating a grand global première, the makers are also planning to showcase Aalavandhan in over 1000 screens worldwide.
It appears that after Pathaan and Jawan, the action continues for Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar plays a pivotal role in daughter Suhana's big-screen debut, which he is also producing along with Siddharth Anand. It has previously been reported that Suhana plays a spy, while SRK essays the part of her handler in the thriller that is being directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Apparently, the film, which is slated to go on floors in January 2024, has been titled King. Moreover, we hear that Siddharth will oversee the action portions of the movie. The director, who gave a major shot in the arm to the superstar's career with Pathaan earlier this year, will also be designing the thrills for this father-daughter film. Prep for the shooting has already begun. Sources claim that apart from some high-octane chase sequences planned by Sid, the thriller will have ample twists and turns that Sujoy is known for.
Thanks to Pathaan and Jawan, and the anticipation around Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan has bagged the top spot in IMDb's Most Popular Indian Stars of 2023. Alia Bhatt comes second, riding on the success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and her Hollywood debut, Heart of Stone, followed by Deepika Padukone, who also made headlines for her appearance on Koffee with Karan with actor-husband Ranveer Singh. Calling the audiences âthe real kings and queens', Alia said, "While I'm filled with only love and gratitude, I hope to continue entertaining them. I also promise to keep working hard and bringing more inspiring stories and characters on screen." Wamiqa Gabbi, who had a busy year with Khufiya, Jubilee, Modern Love: Chennai and Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley, makes her debut in the list, ranking fourth.
