Darshan Raval
Darshan Raval has just released the romantic 'Piya Re,' in time for Valentine's Day 2023. The singer opened about about how the track was created, his favourite behind-the-scenes moments and more in a chat with mid-day.com.
How did 'Piya Re' come to life?
Every year I try to release a song close to Valentine's Day. People either expect romantic or sad songs from me, that's what I'm known for. They wait for a rain song or a romantic number for Valentine's. This song was made a year ago in February 2022, when I visited my hometown Ahmedabad and was having a good time with family and friends. We kept working on the song because I take my time. Finally it's out and I'm happy that people are connecting to it.

Any favourite behind-the-scenes moments from the video shoot?
Since the time my songs became a hit, the scale of video shoots has increased. Usually you are sitting in the vanity van and are called when the shot is ready. For this song there were no vanity vans, it was just us and we shot it in Himachal Pradesh over six days. I had a great time because everyone including the director is my friend and we usually travel together on friends trips. We would climb on the mountain and spend three hours chatting, discussing the philosophy of life and then shooting. There was no make-up or hair team, we managed everything on our own. I'm sure you would have also felt peaceful watching the video.
Where do you head when you need a break or feel the need to recharge your creative side?
I usually head to the mountains or to my family. Usually I travel to different cities for concerts so after a point of time you are exhausted mentally and physically. It's a massive amount of travel and no proper sleep so it's best to be with family and catch some rest. That's my comfort time when I'm able to create songs like this one.
