Durgamati (2020) and Blank (2019) actor Karan Kapadia underwent knee surgery. Kapadia needed medical attention due to a tear in both knees.

Twinkle Khanna's cousin shared a picture of himself from the hospital and wrote, "So last month I tore my left ACL, which makes it both knees after having torn my right in 2012. Anybody who has suffered this injury or any serious one knows that it's so much more difficult from a mental standpoint than it is from a physical one. Was busting my ass prepping for something special but now it's time to reassess. Long term injuries can really help you introspect and learn a lot about yourself. A big thank you to all you guys for all your messages and concern and an even bigger one to my aunt and the rest of my family for being so amazing. Also a special shout out to Dr Anant Joshi for fixing both my knees. Thank youu so much sir. My surgery went well and I will be back even stronger 💪."

Karan Kapadia, nephew to Dimple Kapadia and Akshay Kumar's brother-in-law, forayed into Bollywood in 2019 with Blank, which also starred Sunny Deol. Kapadia served as an assistant director on Kumar's film Boss (2013) to learn the nitty-gritty of the job. In an old chat with mid-day, Karan, while speaking about the nepotism debate, asserted, "I've never used my extended family's surname to bag a meeting. I decided to sign this film and then, told my folks about it. I didn't specifically go to Akshay sir to seek his advice. My family was happy that the entire process happened organically," said the actor.

He was later seen in Durgamati (2020), which starred Bhumi Pednekar and Arshad Warsi in pivotal roles.
