Tusshar Kapoor shares how his Golmaal co-stars had no issue with his character stealing the limelight

Tusshar Kapoor Birthday 2023: The actor has done several films in his career spanning over two decades. Still, nothing gave him more fame than his portrayal of a mute character in Rohit Shetty's famous Golmaal franchise. His ‘ae o ae ya' got him more fans than any of his dialogues. Today on his birthday, let's look back at times when he spoke about his most famous character.'

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor spoke about being apprehensive about playing the part. Tusshar said, "I was apprehensive initially and I was approached by Neeraj Bohra ji, jo iss duniya mein nahi hai ab. At that time there were just three characters because it was inspired from a play and he said that ‘hum fourth character bana rahe hai'. Initially we thought that we would do it through sign language but when we started shooting for the film, my tutor Vikas Kadam and Rohit decided to do something different. They said that ‘Let's do a mute character who can hear'. When you go to a temple or any place, you meet such people who know what things sound like. I don't want to trivialise it but they know what things sound like. That character we wanted to play and then happened and did workshops."

He further shared, "Then there was Ajay, Sharman, Arshad, Paresh Bhai and they are all experts in comedy. I was like, what will this silent character do. But it was my faith in the director and the entire team, there was something about that package that was very promising and decided to close my eyes and take a leap of faith."
In another interview with the first post, the actor shared, how his co-star Arshad Warsi always had faith in him. He said, "Yes, he said this right at the beginning when we started the franchise over a decade ago. Arshad said, "Mark my words, this character will be a surprise packet." People like this character because of the space he gets to show his craziness, and that's only because of my co-stars. They have never had an issue with letting my character steal the limelight in certain places. Ajay Devgn is the biggest star, but he is such a secure person. He gives freedom to every actor and lets their characters flourish. It also goes on to show how generous Arshad is. He is such a talented and comic hero on his own."

Till now the franchise has had 4 films namely, Golmaal Fun Unlimited, Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3 and Golmaal again.
