Shahid Kapoor with wife Mira Rajput Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor wants to feature in a film, which is loaded with "fun and dance," as wife Mira has "fired" him for not being a part of such flicks. He posted a message on his Instagram Stories, "My wife has fired me about how I am not doing a film which is fun and where I dance. Open invitation, please give me something that allows me to please her... #Typecast hero in need! Mira Rajput, I am committed to the cause."
The star wife responded to Shahid Kapoor's Instagram story. She shared a GIF from Schitt's Creek and wrote: "Unbelievable".
Well, Shahid Kapoor's last few films, including Kabir Singh (2019), Padmaavat (2018), Rangoon (2017) and Udta Punjab (2016), clearly don't fit the bill. Nor does his next, the sports drama Jersey. Looks like, Mira will have to wait to be entertained. Till then, she may watch Chance Pe Dance. Remember, Shahid and Genelia D'Souza's 2010 dance-based film?
Talking about Shahid's next film Jersey, the sports drama is a Hindi remake of a Telugu hit of the same name. The Hindi version is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had also helmed the 2019 original. Jersey's story is about a talented but failed cricketer named Arjun, who decides to make a comeback in his late thirties and play for India, in order to fulfil his son's wish. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur.

Shahid wrapped up Jersey in mid-December, 2020. The crew shot for 47 days during COVID-19. On completion of Jersey's shoot, Kapoor penned a long, heart-felt note, dedicated to the Jersey cast and crew. He wrote, "It's a film wrap on #jersey .... 47 days of shoot during covid. Just unbelievable. I am so proud of the entire team. It's nothing short of a miracle. I want to thank each and every one from the unit for coming to set every day, putting themselves at risk and doing what we all love doing. Telling stories that touch hearts and make a difference. Jersey is a story that speaks of a Phoenix rising from the ashes. The triumph of an indomitable spirit. If there was ever a time I could connect with the underlying spirit of a film this was it. As we all fight through this pandemic. Let's always remember. This shall pass too. Here's to my best filmmaking experience yet. Here's to Jersey ... we shall overcome !!!! @gowtamnaidu @mrunalofficial2016@geethaarts @amanthegill@srivenkateswaracreations."
Earlier, Shahid Kapoor had expressed that he was keen to make a film on boxer Dingko Singh. He even plans to produce and play the lead in the biopic.
