Salman Khan on the farmers' protest: The most noble thing should be done

On Thursday night, Salman Khan attended the launch of Pro Music League at Film City. When asked about his opinion on the farmers' protest, he reportedly said, "The right thing should be done. The most correct thing should be done. The most noble thing should be done."

In December, Khan had posted a picture of him ploughing the land with a cryptic post, "Mother Earth." A section of netizens were convinced that he was alluding to the farmers' strike. Khan's Dabangg co-star Sonakshi Sinha extended support to the farmers by sharing a post, which read. "You must remember that they are not alien species, but fellow humans."

India on Wednesday reacted sharply to these tweets with several Bollywood and cricket stars and top ministers rallying around the government in its pushback. The "temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, is neither accurate nor responsible," the Ministry of External Affairs said.

Ekta Kapoor, Karan Johar, Ajay Devgn, Sachin Tendulkar, global personalities took to Twitter on Wednesday to urge people not to fall for false propaganda against India. In case you missed it, it was Akshay and Saina's posts that have created a buzz as these were word for word similar.

"Farmers constitute an extremely important part of our country. And the efforts being undertaken to resolve their issues are evident. Let's support an amicable resolution, rather than paying attention to anyone creating differences.#IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda," posted Akshay and Saina on their respective social media accounts.

Thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and UP, have been protesting for over two months at Delhi''s borders demanding rollback of the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
