Saif Ali Khan in `Adipurush`
After the big mythological movie Adipurush didn't do well and got into some controversy, the people involved in making it decided to keep a low profile. The writer-lyricist Manoj Muntashir Shukla was the only one who openly talked about the movie, its quality, and the criticism it got. But now, after several months, Saif Ali Khan, one of the actors, briefly talked about the movie's failure in a recent interview.
Saif Ali Khan on 'Adipurush' failure
In the interview with Film Companion, Saif Ali Khan made it clear that he doesn't see himself as a superstar who can guarantee success for every project. He brought up his experience with the 2019 Western film Laal Kaptaan, directed by Navdeep Singh, which didn't do well at the box office. He jokingly said, "I'm not star enough to pull off anything."
Saif Ali Khan on 'Adipurush' failure said, "It's nice to be realistic, and I've never actually thought of myself as a star, and I don't really want to also. I like being a star, but I don't want to be delusional. My parents are big stars, but very realistic, very normal. There's so much more in life to be real about, my focus has always been on that⦠The idea is not to be scared of failing."

"People say, âThat was a brave choiceâ¦' You talk about Adipurush, for example. People talk about risks, but if you fall on your face, it's not a risk really. You have to have a few of those also, and it's a part of the approach. You have to shrug it off, feel bad, and say, âNice try, but bad luck, let's go to the next one'." He added.
He mentioned that it's good to be realistic, and he doesn't see himself as a big star, nor does he want to be one. While he likes being recognized, he prefers to stay down-to-earth and not let success get to his head. His parents, who are famous stars themselves, have always stayed humble. He believes in facing reality and staying true to himself. Saif emphasized the importance of not being afraid of failure and seeing it as a part of the journey.
