When you think of Rohit Shetty, you think of his blockbuster movies that leave an everlasting impression. However, in 2022, Rohit Shetty directed a movie starring Ranveer Singh, which did not perform as well as expected. In an interesting turn of events, Rohit Shetty on why he made Cirkus movie is an answer that you must hear!
Rohit Shetty on why he made Cirkus
In an interview with ANI, Rohit Shetty dished about the Ranveer Singh starrer 'Circkus' that faced failure. Talking about why he made the movie in the first place, Rohit Shetty revealed, "It was made during the pandemic when things were changing. Today, if I have to make that subject, I will not touch it. Sooryavanshi was not released, the Indian Police Force was about to start, and we had an eight-month gap because the pandemic was going on."
Shetty further revealed, "So what should we do? Workers were sitting at home and we had this script for the longest time, a simple, small film. I thought, âChalo bana dete hain. Workers bhi busy rahenge aur hum bhi busy rahenge (Let's make it. Workers will stay busy and we will keep busy too). It was a studio-based film, with no cars flying, no action, no heroic entry and all", he added.

Rohit Shetty on Cirkus's failure
Previously, while talking with India Today, Rohit Shetty said that he makes sure he surrounds himself with people who are always honest with him. He further added that there's absolutely no point in shying away from either his successes or his failures. "I make sure to surround myself with people who are honest with me. So, when a film doesn't do well, I know it. Hence, I have always believed that both my successes and failures are mine. There is no point shying away from it. When a Singham or a Golmaal did well, that was also mine, so when a Zameen, a Dilwale or a Cirkus failed, that was also mine. I don't see a point in blaming anything else. I know what we did. We, obviously, went wrong somewhere. It was made right after Sooryavanshi and in the middle of the (Covid-19) pandemic for the workers. It was a small film meant for the audience of that time."
Rohit Shetty in the same interview said that he might make âCirkus' again. "The same audience made Sooryanshi a blockbuster despite a 50 per cent occupancy, and if it didn't work for Cirkus, I must take ownership of failures as well. That's not to say that I won't bounce back with the Singham franchise again or Golmaal or any other film, and I might make Cirkus again, too. And that's okay. My team tells me every 5 years, you are grounded by such failures. I ultimately aim to live up to the expectations of the audience and I do feel a sense of responsibility to give them back the love they give me," he added.
