Ranbir Kapoor on viral photos with Mahira Khan: Very unfair the way she is being judged

Ever since Thursday night, Ranbir Kapoor and Mahira Khan smoking together outside a New York restaurant surfaced the internet, the pictures have extensively been judged, shamed and trolled by the Twitterati, thus making it viral.

The Pakistani actress received criticism on social media for smoking and wearing a short backless white dress.

Ranbir Kapoor has come to the 'Raees' actress' defense.

He issued a statement which read:

"I've gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months. She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also sad is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful god gifted lives. Peace and love."

He further wrote, "PS: Both smoking and hate are injurious to health."

Ranbir and Mahira Khan sparked dating rumours this July after they walked the red carpet of an award show together in Dubai.

Post this followed a video of the duo having a banter, which seemed like a lover's banter.

However, their friends defended them saying that it was a casual conversation they were having.

Several other celebrities like Parineeti Chopra, Varun Dhawan and Pakistani actor Ali Zafar have come out in her support.
