Prajakta Koli
Her YouTube videos may tell you that she was born for the camera. But at heart, Prajakta Koli says she is a writer first. Which is why her turning author doesn't come as a surprise. The content creator-turned-actor is currently giving finishing touches to her maiden novel, Too Good to be True, one that she says she stumbled upon.
"During the lockdown, I finally got some time to sit down and write again. When I was writing, I kept a few [ideas] aside, thinking that [they] would make for a good show. [These would be developed by me] along with the writers' room," she recalls. But one of the ideas - a story of contemporary romance - spoke to Koli so strongly that she decided to develop it into a series on her own.
Next came fleshing out the idea and developing it into a script. Little did she know that by the time she finished the process, she would have a book instead of a script. "I didn't know how to write a show. I opened my MS Word file and started writing [paragraphs]," she says earnestly. "About 400 pages in, I realised that it was looking like chapters. So I thought, âI might as well [make it into] a book,'" laughs the actor, who recently lent her voice to Audible's audio series Wastelanders: Hawkeye, and has an Amazon Prime Video series in the offing. For now though, Koli is busy writing the last two chapters of Too Good to be True, readying it to hit shelves in the first-half of 2024.
