Aashish Rego
Boasting a line-up that includes the finest of the music industry, Aashish Rego's latest release, Jaago zara, brings together 100 female singers from across 15 countries. Rego says a previous interaction had "impressed on me the need to empower women in the field of music", which led to the making of this song, featuring legends like Begum Farida Khannum, Chitra, Sharon Prabhakar, Usha Uthup, Ila Arun, Vidushi Sudha Mathur, and Anuradha Paudwal, among others.
"This song stresses on a couple of factors. It establishes that the existing way of life is redundant in a post-Covid era, and aims to bring about an awakening. We need new and innovative ways to lead life. It also aims to redefine the contribution of women in leading the way to bring about that change, especially in light of the successes they have achieved as leaders, across the world."
Created remotely, the track includes a compilation of videos from singers across India, USA, Australia, England, Korea, Pakistan, Senegal, Israel, Netherlands, Armenia, Macedonia, Ukraine, Wales and Poland. "The diversity of the diaspora exemplified the song's beauty. Each member played a role in the greater scheme of things, unaware of the magnitude of the project that she was contributing to."
