Composer Roy
Composer Roy's speedy iteration of the popular Punjabi folk song, Kaali teri gutt evidently poses a challenge for Phone Bhoot actor Katrina Kaif. The fast-paced number has the actor, along with co-stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter, test her agility with a choreography that could put the finest dancers to test.
"The brief that was given to me was to create a pacey and danceable number," says Roy, adding, "Owing to the popularity of this song, and the sentiments of the Punjabi [community], we decided to retain the original instrumentation. This song is usually associated with marriage. We used an upbeat vibe to cater to the colour of the film, as well as the audience's taste."
Even though the track seems to have been created to align with the off-beat personalities of the film's leading men, Roy says it was designed before the casting process even commenced. "I didn't even know which film it was going to be used in. But, when I saw the final cut, I realised that the appearance, along with the casting of the actors, and the [witch], fit the song like a hand in glove."
In his kitty is Shaad Ali's Mister Mummy, starring husband-wife duo Genelia D'Souza and Riteish Deshmukh. "I've been collaborating with Shaad sir for a while. I hope people find this score promising."
