Maidaan
The makers of the upcoming film, 'Maidaan', shared pictures of the trail of destruction left by Cyclone Tauktae on the sports drama's set at Film City. A football stadium had been built to shoot eight matches in the final schedule of the Ajay Devgn-starrer.
The set, designed by Khyati Kanchan, will be rebuilt post the easing of lockdown restrictions. Producer Boney Kapoor is hopeful of restarting the shoot in the next couple of months. On Thursday, the makers also quashed rumours that they were considering putting the film up for pay-per-view digital release.
It is slated to release in theatres on October 15 on the occasion of Dussehra. 'Maidaan' is based on the golden years of Indian football. It is inspired by the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, who was a coach and manager of the Indian national football team in the '50s. There were speculations that the upcoming sports drama whose shooting had already been stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic was in conversation with big streaming platforms for pay-per-view release.
The makers released a joint statement that said, "We would like to share that there is currently no conversation with any streaming platform for pay per view release of the film 'Maidaan'. Our focus, at present, is to complete the film keeping everyone's safety in mind and in full compliance with Protocols laid down by the Government. We request you to please reach out to us regarding any news about Maidaan."
