The late Jayalalithaa, who carved a niche for herself in Kollywood and politics, featured in few Hindi films as well. While it is known that Jayalalithaa starred opposite Dharmendra in 'Izzat' (1968), did you know that was not her first tryst with Bollywood?

Jayalalithaa first played the role of Lord Krishna in a dance sequence in the Hindi film 'Man Mauji' in 1962.

The film also starred Kishore Kumar and Sadhana.

Three years after making her Tamil film debut in 'Vennira Aadai' (1965), Jayalalithaa got to play the lead role in Bollywood opposite Dharmendra in 'Izzat' (1968).

Jayalalithaa played the role of a tribal girl Jhumki, who is in love with a high-caste character played by Dharmendra.

Produced by F.C. Mehra and directed by T. Prakash Rao, the other female co-star in 'Izzat' was Tanuja.

Dharmendra, while talking to reporters, said he was deeply shocked by the death of Jayalalithaa.

J. Jayalalithaa, one of India's most charismatic political leaders, died in Chennai on Monday night after a bitter 74-day battle for life, ending an era in Tamil Nadu politics and plunging the state in deep grief. She was 68.

Jayalalithaa, a spinster, breathed her last at the Apollo Hospital just before midnight, over 24 hours after she suffered a cardiac arrest that derailed the halting progress she had been making on the health front.

A veteran actor, the self-made Jayalalithaa, who was five times Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, was admitted to the Apollo Hospital on September 22 with fever and dehydration, just four months after she led the AIADMK to triumphantly retain power in assembly elections.
