Irrfan Khan's career spanned over three decades, and he was widely regarded as one of the most talented and versatile actors in the Indian film industry. As April 29, which is today, marks the third death anniversary of the late actor, Irrfan Khan, let's revisit some of the memorable roles played by the legendary star.
Maqbool: Irrfan Khan's portrayal of the titular character in this adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" cemented his reputation as a versatile and talented actor. Directed by ace director Vishal Bhardwaj, the blockbuster crime drama also starred Tabu, Pankaj Kapoor, Piyush Mishra, Naseeruddin Shah, and Om Puri in pivotal roles.
The Lunchbox: In this critically acclaimed film, Irrfan Khan played the role of Saajan Fernandes, a lonely and isolated man who forms a connection with a young woman named Ila, flawlessly played by Nimrat Kaur, through a mistaken delivery of a lunchbox. Besides Irrfan and Nimrat, the movie also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a supporting role.
Piku: The 2015 Shoojit Sircar directorial which stars Deepika Padukone as the titular protagonist, is a heartwarming story of a Delhi-based architect, Piku Banerjee, whose life revolves around her elderly and nagging father, Bhaskor, played by Amitabh Bachchan, who is obsessed with his health and constipation problem. The story takes an interesting turn when Irrfan Khan enters the film as Rana Chaudhary, the owner of a cab company who drives Piku and her father all the way to Calcutta as Bhaskor wants to visit his ancestral home. While Deepika who has headlined the movie is impressive in every frame, Irrfan as Rana keeps the viewers hooked with his wit and humour. Besides Irrfan's commendable acting, the quirky chemistry between Irrfan and Deepika makes the movie worth a watch.

Talvar: Directed by Meghna Gulzar, this 2015 drama-thriller which was inspired by the infamous 2008 Aarushi Talwar murder case, features Irrfan Khan as Ashwin Kumar, a police officer who investigates the controversial case. While the movie got mixed reviews, Irrfan's powerful acting was widely appreciated by his fans as well as the critics. Besides Irrfan, the movie also stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Neeraj Kabi.
Hindi Medium: In this 2017 comedy-drama, Khan played the role of Raj Batra, a wealthy businessman who goes to great lengths to ensure that his daughter gets into a prestigious school, in this satirical comedy. While the movie received both, critical as well as commercial acclaim, Irrfan's performance in the film was touted as effortless and brilliant by audiences across the nation.
