A Band Of Boys
When we think of 90s Indi pop, one band stands out not only for its head-bopping tunes but also for the swooning charm of its members. A Band of Boys, India's pioneer all-male band, became a sensation for their upbeat songs and peppy yet hip-hop chartbusters. They were credited as being the group that effectively redefined the genre itself. The band was successful in effectively stealing the hearts of girls all over India.
In the early 2000s, as the Indian music industry was undergoing a transformation, A Band of Boys emerged as a breath of fresh air. With their music videos that have a peak 90s aesthetic, catchy melodies, and a boyish enthusiasm that was hard to resist, they swiftly gained popularity. The group consisted of five members originally, Sherrin Varghese, Karan Oberoi, Siddharth Haldipur, Sudhanshu Pandey, and Chaitanya Bhosle. However, Siddharth and Sudhanshu consecutively left the group.
While the group underwent many transformation periods, their debut album, 'Yeh Bhi Woh Bhi,' which hit the scene in 2002, marked a significant moment in the history of Indi pop. It was absolutely not to be trifled with. The album was an instant hit, and it wasn't just the music that had everyone talking. The members of the band, the "gorgeous-looking men," as many would attest, added an extra layer of excitement to their music. In fact, they were even called "The Backstreet Boys of India".
Among the gems on their famous album, 'Yeh Bhi Woh Bhi,' one song, in particular, crawled its way into everyone's hearts and made itself comfortable. It easily became an anthem of a generation. Meri Neend was the track that had people grooving and humming along wherever they went.

The music video for Meri Neend was a visual treat; if you happen to go over to YouTube and give it a watch, we assure you that you will be transported straight to the 90s. The aesthetic, style choices, and musical tone will leave you nostalgic for a time that honestly, doesn't feel like ages ago.
A Band Of Boys shattered stereotypes and norms in a music industry dominated by solo artists and girl groups. Their formation as an all-male group was a bold move that paid off. They were active from the year 2001-2006. After their heartbreaking hiatus in 2006, the band announced plans to reunite in 2018 with the remaining 3 members and added a new 4th member named Danny Fernandez. It's refreshing to see some members of the group come back together in the name of music. Among all the members, Sudhanshu Pandey has started a new chapter in his life, acting. He is now best known for playing Vanraj Shah in the TV show, Anupama.
While the 1990s may have seen the zenith of A Band Of Boys' fame, their music continues to find a special place in the hearts of fans, old and new.
