Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen after four years with 'Pathaan'. The film saw a massive opening on January 25, Wednesday. Despite being a non-holiday weekday, fans thronged to the theatres as early as 6 in the morning to catch the first show of the opening day. Owing to the demand, several theatres added extra shows at midnight to accommodate the excess demand. The film directed by Sidharth Anand also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles.
Not just fans, but celebrities from the film industry also headed to the theatres to catch early shows of the film. On Republic Day, Hrithik Roshan too watched the film and shared his view on the same. "What a trip. Incredible vision , some never seen before visuals, tight screenplay, amazing music, surprises and twists all the way thru. Sid you have done it again, Adi your courage astounds me. Congrats Shahrukh, Deepika, John n the entire team. #pathaan".

Pathaan is part of Yash Raj Films's spy Universe. The universe also includes Salman Khan's Tiger and Hrithik Roshan's War. Hrithik Roshan plays the spy Kabir in War which was also directed by Siddharth Anand. While Salman Khan as Tiger had a cameo in the film, Hrithik was not part of Pathaan. However, Hrithik's character Kabir was mentioned in the film by Ashutosh Rana's character hinting at a possible collaboration of all three spies.
Meanwhile, 'Pathaan' has created history by collecting Rs. 57 crore at the box office on day 1. The Hindi version of the film collected Rs. 55 crores while Tamil and Telugu dubs collected Rs. 2 crores. This is the highest collection for a Hindi film ever surpassing the collection of 'KGF 2'. The film collected Rs. 100 crore worldwide on day 1. Day 2 collections of the film is expected to cross Rs. 60 crore in India alone.
