"According to the jail manual, the prison gates open at 7 am, so he is expected to walk out any time after that. We are hoping that all the formalities are done and he steps out as soon as possible," said a source, adding, "Sanju has written letters to his sister Priya Dutt and her husband Owen Roncon to come and receive him. He wants everyone to be there when he is freed, along with Maanayata, and close pals."

Sources said Dutt is slated to arrive in Mumbai by a chartered flight. As soon as he lands, he will first head to Siddhivinayak Temple. From there, he will proceed to the Bada Kabrastan, near Marine Lines station, where his mother, actress-social worker Nargis, is buried. Nargis, who passed away in 1981, was buried there next to her mother, Jaddanbai, an actress-singer during the early days of Indian cinema. Back home, he will first do a puja near his late father Sunil Dutt's portrait, which is at the foyer of Imperial Heights.

'Law is equal for all'
Sanjay Dutt's lawyer Hitesh Jain told mid-day, "On Thursday, his judicial proceedings come to an end. A petition filed by Yusuf Nalwala in the Supreme Court, on whether the guns in his possession were automatic or semi-automatic, comes up for hearing soon. If the weapons are found to be semi-automatic, the maximum sentence is of three years, but Sanjay Dutt has already served five years. People say celebrities can get away with anything, but the law is equal to all and his case proves it."
