Jackie Shroff
Jackie Shroff has pledged his support to raise awareness for the environment through the medium of cinema. The actor has been roped in as a goodwill ambassador for a unique event - a film festival dedicated solely to movies that are stirring conversation on environmental conservation, and the impacts of climate change, among other similar topics.
ALT EFF sought the support of Shroff, who has always been associated with different environmental initiatives, and actively participates in plantation drives. Shroff says, "I am eager to see the kind of films that will be part of the festival. Cinema is a powerful medium. [We are taking] a loan from [the future generation]; a loan of the soil, water, and seeds, and we are contaminating them all. It is nice to see that so many people are thinking alike [about environmental restoration]."
The films for the virtual event have been created despite the challenges put forth by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He is joined by actor Mrunmayee Deshpande Rao as a co-ambassador, along with other leading figures from the industry.
