Several B-Town filmmakers, including Karan Johar, glamorised karva chauth by making it an integral part of their storytelling. The festival, which is on October 24, will not have newlywed Rhea Kapoor celebrating it. She and director husband Karan Boolani do not believe "in the tradition and its spirit". Kapoor said, "I feel if we take care of ourselves and each other, we should be good. But we respect other couples who partake in the festivities; it is just not for us."

Creating buzz

Shilpa Shetty decided to "take a risk and step out of her comfort zone" to get her tresses chopped. She now sports an undercut buzz (above), "which took a lot of gumption, I won't lie," she posted while revealing her new look. Several industry colleagues praised her for her daring makeover, but a section of netizens wondered about the need to go half-bald. They should know that sometimes a drastic cut aids in moving past whatever upsets us.

Fun in the sun

Shahid Kapoor is the latest to head to Bollywood's go-to destination, the Maldives. Wife Mira and kids, Misha and Zain, are accompanying him. Mira, who calls herself "a beach bum" has not been skipping her workouts even when holidaying. She shared a selfie with hubby dearest and wrote, "Can I take the trainer home?"

A matter of honour

Divya Dutta bagged the Best Actor Award for her performance in the short film, Sheer Qorma, at the DFW South Asian Film Festival. Faraz Arif Ansari's directorial venture also received the Best Film Award at the event in Dallas. "It is a double win," posted Dutta. The LGBT romance also stars Swara Bhasker and Shabana Azmi.

Waiting to explode

Last seen in Imitiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal 2 (2020), Kartik Aaryan's upcoming film, Dhamaka, will drop digitally next month. Ram Madhvani's directorial venture, which also stars Amruta Subhash, Vikas Kumar and Vishwajeet Pradhan, follows the story of an ambitious former news anchor played by Aaryan. "He is given another chance to go live on prime time television when a terrorist calls him with a bomb threat. Little does he know that this call will change his life and throw him into a fast-paced game of betrayal," read the statement released by the makers. The film drops on Netflix on November 19.

Going off the radar

Arjun Kapoor wants to dive deep into his Ek Villain 2 character, so he is on a digital detox to ensure nothing distracts him. On Monday, he dropped a hint on Instagram Story. His post read, "Time to disappear." Kapoor is shooting for some intense scenes in Mohit Suri's action-thriller and wants to give his complete attention.

No-show again

On Monday, Jacqueline Fernandez skipped the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons for the fourth time in connection with the R200-crore money laundering case against conman Sukesh Chandrasekar. The actor is seeking more time to appear before the probing agency due to professional commitments. In August, Fernandez recorded her statement and had to submit proof supporting her claim. She faced probe for the ‘suspicious transaction' between her and Chandrasekar. Since then, Fernandez has not turned up for questioning. She was to depose before the ED on September 25, October 15, 16 and 18.

The magic of the deep sea

Over the weekend, Priyanka Chopra Jonas went scuba diving with brother-in-law Franklin Jonas in Spain. She is shooting for Russo Brothers' web series, Citadel, in Valencia. "There are days when the stress just needs to be silenced. What better way to do that than to explore the glorious underwater creations? I was honoured that Citadel's camera crew let me crash their party. Big shout-out to them for a magical experience," wrote PeeCee.

Pooja tests positive, still refuses vaccination

Pooja Bedi, a vocal anti-vaxxer, tested positive for COVID-19. She says her immunity, alternative healing and wellness practices will put her on the road to recovery. Fiancé Maneck Contractor and their house help have also contracted the virus. "I chose to stay unvaccinated as it's my personal decision. You do what's right for you," said the Goa-based actor. After she developed a cough, Bedi felt it was a dust allergy. But after she got a fever, she decided to get herself tested for the Coronavirus. She added, "Hopefully, we will be over this in a couple of days. It's a great way for me to take it easy. I was working hard, and may be this is God's way of telling me to slow down." In August, Bedi had hit out at the vaccination drive. "If 99 per cent survive COVID with or without the vaccine, the government needs to focus on vaccinating and masking those who have comorbidities. Not vaccinate the whole world and certainly not discriminate against the unvaccinated," she tweeted.
