A recent development has established the belief that too much of anything can be detrimental. The news opened a floodgate of memes on social media, again. For several years, there has been criticism against the airing of the film on this channel, with a user famously responding to Bachchan's celebratory tweet marking 18 years since the film's release, with: "Has it been only 18 years since Sooryavansham released? That's strange since it's been airing on Sony Max since 1872."
