Priyanka Chopra with husband Nick Jonas
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas sprung a surprise by announcing that they are now parents. The couple shared the news about their bundle of joy in a social media statement, which read, "We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much." Though they did not reveal the sex of the baby or the date of birth, according to US media reports, the baby was due in April, and arrived pre-maturely at a Los Angeles hospital. The reports add that it is a girl and she will remain in a neonatal intensive care unit until she is well enough to be taken home. Last November, PeeCee had joked on the Jonas Brothers Family Roast on Netflix, and said, "Nick and I are expecting....." and later added, "To get drunk tonight and sleep in tomorrow." Looks like the actor was dropping a hint. While several B-Town stars sent congratulatory messages, Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen made an indirect dig at the couple. Without taking their names she tweeted, "Surrogacy is possible because there are poor women. Rich people always want the existence of poverty in society for their interests. If you badly need to raise a child, adopt a homeless one. Children must inherit your traits - it is just a selfish narcissistic ego." Nasreen added, "How do those mothers feel when they get their readymade babies through surrogacy? Do they have the same feelings for the babies like the mothers who give birth to the babies?" Jonas, 29, and Chopra, 39, tied the knot in 2018.
Lizelle D'Souza shared a picture of late brother Jason Watkins (inset) on her Instagram Stories and wrote a note remembering him. "Sleep in peace Jay boy⦠at last, you even got this stubbornness of yours fulfilled. This world couldn't keep you and mum apart too long. I am sure Jesus will bring you back in a better world and I pray that yours and mum's bond will always be intact," she posted. Watkins, brother-in-law of choreographer-filmmaker Remo D'Souza, allegedly took his life at his Andheri home on Thursday. "You broke our hearts brother... hope you finally found peace," posted Remo.
