Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur
Last year, mid-day had reported about Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur teaming up for the Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil actioner, Thadam (Playing a cop has been on my checklist, Sep 6). Since then, director Vardhan Ketkar has found a title in Gumraah, and wrapped up the first schedule.
The cast and crew will kick off the second leg of the crime thriller, which sees Thakur as a cop, in Goregaon tomorrow. A source reveals, "The Dalwai Educational Trust Goregaon English School is being converted into a police station for the stint. A chunk of the film, including many of Mrunal's scenes, will be shot at the site."
The source adds that the makers hope to wrap up the schedule early next month before the school reopens in the first week of June. The film is important to Kapur as it marks his first double role. Based on true events, Gumraah revolves around two lookalikes who are the primary suspects in a murder case that is being investigated by Thakur's character.
