Director Anil Sharma and global sensation Priyanka Chopra share an enduring connection, forged during their collaboration on the film 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy.' In a recent interview, Sharma delved into the past, revealing a fascinating and heartwarming chapter of their journey together.
Sharma recounted an incident that shed light on Priyanka Chopra's unwavering determination and the director's unwavering support. He revealed that the actress had embarked on a nose surgery adventure in a bid to emulate the iconic Julia Roberts. However, this decision didn't pan out as expected, leaving her in distress.
"I'll tell you what happened. A big tragedy happened with her. She was wonderful, I'd already signed her, my wife herself presented her with a cheque outside a temple. I left for a trip to America and Europe after 'Gadar' released, and I returned after two months and found out that Priyanka had gotten an operation on her nose because she wanted to look like Julia Roberts. This is what I read in the papers, and I wondered why she'd do something like this; she was already good-looking," Sharma shared.
After the surgery, the actress was left deeply upset. However, her professionalism shone through as she chose to return the advance payment given by the director. But Anil Sharma, displaying immense faith in her talent and resilience, decided to stand by her.

"She looked terrible, she was so dark, what in the world had she done to herself? I summoned her immediately, and she came over the next day with her mother. They were in tears, they told me about the operation, which had even left a mark under her nose. It's still there to this day. They said it would take months to heal, and that Priyanka had been dropped from several projects she'd already signed," Sharma revealed.
In an extraordinary display of solidarity, Sharma didn't waver in his commitment to Priyanka Chopra. He took the bold step of calling in a makeup artist to expertly conceal the scar. The result? Priyanka looked as breathtaking as ever in the screen test photographs, reaffirming her star quality and resilience.
Currently, Anil Sharma is riding high on the success of his latest cinematic offering, 'Gadar 2.' Starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma, the film has shattered records, grossing over Rs 500 crore in India.
