Gadar 2: Original composer Uttam Singh slams makers for using his songs without asking

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer set the box office on fire like never before. The film which was released on August 11 has been keeping the double digit momentum at the box office even after 13 days in theatres. Amid this success, composer Uttam Singh has expressed his disappointment with the team of the film using his original tracks in the sequel. He had originally composed the songs, 'Main Nikla Gaddi Leke' and 'Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava', which were recreated by music director Mithoon.

In an interview with Amar Ujala, Uttam Singh said, "They didn't call me for Gadar 2 and I don't have the habit of calling and asking for work. They have used two of my songs in the film and I have also heard that they have used the background music that I composed. They should at least have the etiquette to ask me once and talk to me before using my songs in the film."

However, according to Etimes, in an interview with the publication director Anil Sharma said that he had informed Uttam Singh that he is being replaced. He also said that the composer was not hurt by the decision. "He understood why I brought in Mithoon. After 'Gadar' too, I made films and worked with other music directors. If you don't work with the previous music director, it does not necessarily mean anything," said Sharma.

He further stated, "Uttam Singh is a highly talented musician and it's not that he wouldn't have given me great music. It's just that I needed a change to go with times. Two of the songs from 'Gadar' are in 'Gadar 2' untampered, barring improving their sound quality. Four new songs have come in, Arijit has lent his voice and they have all come out beautifully."

The recreated version of 'Main Nikla Gaddi Leke' was sung by Udit Narayan who also sung the original version. For the recreated version, Aditya Narayan and Mithoon also lent their voice. As for the track 'Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava', Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik once again returned to sing the song.

At the box office, 'Gadar 2' has collected over Rs 400 crore in just 13 days.
