Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer 'Gadar 2' has taken the box office by storm ever since the advance booking for the film started two weeks before its theatrical release. The film which was released in theatres on August 11 has now entered the 300 crore club in India. And it took the film just 8 days to achieve this feat.
Driving high on nostalgia, the Anil Sharma-directorial managed to get the housefull board signs on display at several cinema halls. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle on Saturday and wrote, " 300 NOT OUT⦠#Gadar2 continues to ROAR⦠Mass pockets are in an altogether different league⦠Also, the contribution from Tier 2 and Tier 3 sectors will set a new benchmark⦠Expect BIGGG JUMP on [second] Sat and Sun⦠[Week 2] Fri 20.50 cr. Total: â¹ 305.13 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice".
Helmed by Anil Sharma, 'Gadar 2' is a sequel to the hit film which was released in theatres in 2001. In the film. Sunny Deol played the role of Tara, a truck driver, while Ameesha played Sakina in the film that was set during the partition of India in 1947. 'Gadar 2' follows Tara Singh as he ventures across the border in a daring attempt to rescue his son, portrayed by Utkarsh Sharma, who has been captured in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, 'Gadar 2' has been having a dream run at the box office. The film collected Rs 40.10 crore on opening day, shattering all trade predictions for the film. On the first Sunday, the film collected Rs. 51.70 crores net, taking the total to Rs. 134.88 crores net. The Independence Day collection was historic as it collected Rs 55 crore.

Despite facing a clash with Akshay Kumar-starrer 'OMG 2', the film witnessed a historic collection standing second to only Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' which was released earlier this year.
Directed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 stars Akshay as Lord Shiva's messenger whereas Pankaj is Kanti Sharan Mudgal, and Yami plays a lawyer named Kamini Maheshwari. The film also stars Pavan Raj Malhotra, Govind Namdev, Aarush Varma, Arun Govil, and Brijendra Kala. OMG 2 released with Gadar 2 at the box office on August 11. Despite the clash with the Sunny Deol starrer, the spiritual sequel of OMG 2 made it to the 100-crore club globally in a week.
