Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is one film that continues to occupy a special place in the hearts of moviegoers starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. Fast forward almost two decades, and the same creative team, led by director Anil Sharma, has delivered a much-anticipated sequel aptly titled, Gadar 2. Remarkably, despite facing competition from the equally awaited OMG 2, Gadar has managed to strike gold at the box office, emerging as one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of the year.
Ameesha Patel, who played a pivotal role in the original Gadar, recently took to her social media platforms to express her gratitude towards director Anil Sharma. In a heartfelt message, she acknowledged, "So glad @Anilsharma_dir⦠yes⦠TARA + SAKINA = GADAR !!! Your thought related to this post is bang on!! Audiences' love is great for TARA N SAKINA." This heartwarming gesture comes amidst an ongoing public spat between the actress and the filmmaker.
However, it appears that Patel's appreciation might be underlined with a few conditions. She has made it clear that she would be hesitant to reprise her role in "Gadar 3" if her characters, Tara Singh and Sakeena, are not given the screen time they deserve. In response to this stance, Anil Sharma remained diplomatic, stating, "I respect her and will continue to do so. The character of Sakina was born from my heart, not hers. I myself don't know what will happen in Gadar 3. Unke kehne ya sochne se kya hota hai (what will change with her thoughts or statements)."
The exchange between Patel and Sharma is just the latest chapter in their ongoing public disagreements. Earlier in the week, Sharma referred to Patel as a "bade ghar ki bitiya" (daughter from a rich family) and criticized her acting abilities during the filming of the first "Gadar." Patel, for her part, had previously spoken out about payment discrepancies and mismanagement issues at the film's studio, adding another layer of complexity to their professional relationship.
