Angad Bedi with former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi
There is much excitement at the Bedi household as Ghoomer hits the screens today, and Angad Bedi's presence is not the only reason behind the joy. The actor's father, former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi makes his acting debut with R Balki's directorial venture that also stars Saiyami Kher, Abhishek Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. A source reveals that the director specially crafted a sequence that would enable the renowned spinner to play himself - the 76-year-old will be seen making a cameo as a cricket commentator.
Considering they both belong to different professions, Angad says he had never quite imagined sharing screen space with his father. "To be in the same film and credit roll with my father is an honour. Also, working alongside Saiyami and Abhishek has been a fantastic experience," he says enthusiastically. To him, it's all the more iconic since Balki has also roped in the father-son duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek for the sports drama.
"Balki sir has brought everyone together for the film. I'm excited that my dad will be seen on screen in the film that is dedicated to the sport he loves most and has contributed to." A celebration of human resilience, Ghoomer revolves around Kher's cricketer character who loses an arm and rises against the odds to pursue the sport.
