Emraan Hashmi
In the fourth season of Karan Johar's controversial 'Koffee With Karan', Emraan Hashmi along with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt arrived as guests in one of the episodes. During the rapid fire round, Emraan Hashmi called Aishwarya Rai plastic. The comment had ripple effect on his career as well. The actor had later apologised for his comment.
During his appearance on the show, Emraan Hashmi and his filmmaker uncle Mahesh Bhatt were competing for the Koffee hamper. During the round, Karan Johar asked Emraan to name an actor/actress that comes to his mind when he hears the word plastic. To which, the 'Tum Mile' actor quickly gave Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's name.
Later, Hashmi clarified that he had made the comment to win the coveted Koffee Hamper on the controversial talk show. He also said that he was aware that it would make headlines. "I didn't mean it. I'm a big fan of Aishwarya. It's the format of the show. I cannot not say things and not win the hamper. I love her. I have always been a great admirer of her work. I knew people would make big deal out of it⦠so what, people make a big deal out of nonsense all the time," the actor said in an interview with Hindustan Times in 2014.
In another interview with Zoom, Emraan blamed the show for pushing him to say such things. "It's that show," he said, "Karan pushes you to say these things."

Meanwhile, it seems like Aishwarya Rai never forgave him for his comment. She had reportedly refused to sign a film by Milan Luthria because of Hashmi's association with the project. In 2019, she told Filmfare that the worst thing someone said to her was that she is 'fake and plastic'.
On the work front, Emraan Hashmi will soon be seen as the antagonist in Tiger 3 alongside Salman Khan. While the makers have kept Hashmi as their best kept secret, it is expected that his first glimpse will be unveiled at the trailer launch on October 16. The film will be released in theatres during Diwali 2023. The film also stars Katrina Kaif and will see Shah Rukh Khan in a special role.
