Nevertheless, amidst the excitement, certain netizens expressed uncertainty about Singh's casting. This apprehension stemmed from the remarkable portrayals of the character by both Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Responding to these concerns, Farhan Akhtar has now addressed the issue while also divulging additional insights about the film's production timeline.
In a recent dialogue with BBC Asian Network, Farhan Akhtar discussed the decision to cast Ranveer as the new Don. He shared that Ranveer, just like Akhtar himself, experienced a mix of excitement and anxiety when stepping into the shoes previously filled by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Farhan's sentiment echoed the situation when Shah Rukh Khan had succeeded Amitabh Bachchan in the role, which also sparked a similar initial skepticism.
Farhan conveyed his anticipation for the project, praising Ranveer's talents and expressing his confidence that the actor would excel in the role. Emphasizing that an actor's own style and flair play a significant role in making the character their own, Farhan shared his conviction that Ranveer possessed the necessary attributes to make the portrayal successful. He also revealed that the responsibility now lies more with him to ensure the film aligns with his creative vision.

When queried about the qualities defining a good Don, Farhan highlighted the importance of self-confidence, flamboyance, and the unwavering determination to accomplish anything one sets their mind to. Shifting focus to the film's logistics, the filmmaker unveiled details about the shooting schedule. He disclosed that production is set to commence in January 2025.
Prior to this, following the release of the teaser featuring Ranveer Singh as Don, the actor took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note. In his message, he expressed that playing Don had been a cherished childhood dream, and he hoped for an opportunity to carry forward the character's legacy.
