Bhoomi Trivedi/PR image
Bhoomi Trivedi, having started out with a reality show, has become one of Bollywood's top singers. From âGhani Cool Chori' featuring Taapsee Pannu for Rashmi Rocket to âGarbe Ki Raat' with Rahul Vaidya that has him with Nia Sharma in the video, her songs have been making news and how! Bhoomi speaks to mid-day.com about work and more.
Your song âGhani Cool Chori' for Taapsee Pannu from âRashmi Rocket' has gone viralâ¦
To sing for Amit Tridevi sir is a dream come true moment for me. I've followed his worked for years and have been a fan. I was completely starstruck when I met him at his studio the first time. He knew my voice texture and quality. It felt like he was waiting for the right song to use my voice. That happened with âGhani Cool Chori'. I'm thankful to Amit sir for giving me this beautiful song that's already etched in history. It has reached millions of hearts, more than views, which are 10 million. Taapsee is a trendsetter and looks so beautiful. I follow Kausar Munir's work and she wrote the song beautifully. Amit sir gave me the freedom to explore but guided and instructed me at the same time. He made me believe I'm the character in the film and singing the song. When I heard the song in the studio I had to control myself from dancing. The song is an ensemble of maestros, be it the way it was written, composed, shot, performed by Taapsee, even the costumes and choreography.
How was the experience of Bigg Boss 15?
I loved it! I loved seeing the set because all these years I would only watch it on TV. That performance was a dedication to my sister Ankita because she's a die heard fan, she's watched every episode from season one till now. I didn't tell her that I'm going on Bigg Boss, it was a surprise.
Do you see yourself as a contestant on Bigg Boss?
Every house in India is not less than Bigg Boss. Something or the other keeps happening in the family. When my cousins fight or argue I say âYeh lo inka Bigg Boss shuru ho gaya.' I have no idea if it will happen in the future or not, but I enjoyed celebrating Navratri with them. I performed Gujarati and Hindi songs, it's a nice mix. I've never watched the show because I'm constantly travelling but I watched a few episodes of OTT for Neha Bhasin.

Your Navratri Song with Rahul Vaidya âGarbe Ki Raat' is also a hitâ¦
Rahul and I had decided to do something for Navratri last year. This year all of a sudden we were chatting and he composed and wrote something in Hindi. There's a Gujarati folk song âDakla'. It's one of the patterns of Garba that we added. It's become a huge hit and people are loving it.
While a lot of your songs have a rustic feel, âHusn Parcham' from Zero for Katrina Kaif came as a surpriseâ¦
I love exploring different kind of music. It had a stylised accent, a modern sensuous song. As a kid I listened to a lot of Bollywood songs so there's this particular accent that's used. I don't want to stick to one genre when I have the option to explore. I got a call from Red Chillies for the song, and I was in Surat for Navratri at that time. At the same time, I was a captain on a kids singing reality show. I had to travel to and fro from Surat to Mumbai by road all the time during that period. It was a challenging experience for me but so beautiful.
