Dulquer Salmaan
Dulquer Salmaan turns 37 on July 28. In an interview with mid-day.com, the actor had spoken about how he reacts to film reviews and admitted he reads the positive stuff but ends up focussing on the negative.
Salmaan said, "I read it and I'm human so I read the positive stuff but end up focussing on the negative. Over time I feel it is affecting me less, I've reached a certain security as an actor. I feel more secure about my future. In the first few years I didn't know where it would go and if I had any future. It was affecting me because I felt people were writing me off and I'm finished. I'd be lying if I said I don't look at it (film reviews.)
Speaking about his superstar dad Mommootty, the actor said, "It was important for me to break away from being associated, of course I can't lose my last name ever! I wanted to have my own identity and the audience to see me as an actor or the characters I'm playing. I wanted to find my own cinema, different from what he has done. Over the course of time, I've got there which I'm grateful for. It's a great joy to be working side by side in the same industry or share notes. When I get a bad review, I reach out to dad saying 'I read this.' He says 'I've read this, those who were critisising me in the 80s are not here anymore, there are some new people, don't bother about it.'"
