Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone has little time for a breather. The actor, whose last release Gehraiyaan got a mixed response, has a string of big-ticket films lined up for this year - from Pathan opposite Shah Rukh Khan to Fighter that marks her first collaboration with Hrithik Roshan. Even as she focuses on her projects, the actor-producer is keeping tabs on her production, The Intern remake that was announced in 2020. After a round of casting change and two waves of the pandemic, it was reported that the Hindi adaptation of the Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway film was to roll towards the end of 2021. Padukone says the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer has now been earmarked for 2022. "The Intern will happen this year, or early 2023. The third wave wasn't anticipated, so it threw a few things off course. But now, [we are] back on track," she says.
Before she can slip into the role of the workaholic boss to Bachchan's warm-natured intern, she will head out for a foreign schedule of Pathan. About reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan, she says, "Working with him feels like home. This is my second film with [director] Siddharth Anand, so there is a comfort [level]. In the next few months, I will start Fighter with Hrithik."
