The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its third mission to the moon at 2:35 p.m. on Friday (July 14) from Sriharikota, a region in Andhra Pradesh. The team's goal is to spend one lunar day, or 14 Earth days, on the moon. Scientists will analyse the soil, explore the moon, and record quakes once they have landed on the moon. The spacecraft is expected to land on Moon's surface on August 23, 2023.
The launch of this mission has come almost four years after the failure of the last mission (Chandrayaan-2). The lander (Vikram) and rover (Pragyaan) crashed on the surface of the moon during the early hours of 7th September 2019.
