Actor Amit Mistry passed away earlier this morning following cardiac arrest. He was in his mid-forties. The actor did memorable roles in films such as Kya Kehna, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, 99, Shor In The City, Yamla Pagla Deewana, A Gentleman and the Amazon Prime series Bandish Bandits. He has also done a lot of TV shows like Shubh Mangal Savadhan, Saat Phero Ki Hera Pherie, Tenali Rama, Maddam Sir, and Yeh Duniya Hai Rangeen, among others.
The actor recently shot for the upcoming film Bhoot Police. The film's producer Ramesh Taurani, confirming Mistry's demise, says he was well at the time. "We were shooting with him in November last year as well as in January and February this year for 'Bhoot Police'. He was quite well. We have worked with him in 'Kya Kehna! also. He was a very nice human being, too, besides being a superb actor. It's very sad to hear about his demise," said Taurani to IANS.
Mistry's colleagues took to social media to share their condolences. Mourning the death, actor Ashwin Mushran, tweeted, "I've worked with #AmitMistry a couple of times and had the pleasure of seeing how brilliant he was on stage. He will be missed on stage and screen by all of us. Condolences to his family"
Singer-actor Swanand Kirkire expressed his grief too. He tweeted, "Amit Mistry ? No ...this is unbelievable. He was an amazing Actor and a real happy soul"

Vir Das too mourned the loss of Mistry, with whom he was set to start shooting a show. "I was ready to start shooting a show that Amit Mistry is an integral part of. His talent, his insight were a thing to behold. We've lost a truly wonderful artist today. Rest in Peace," tweeted Vir Das.
