In January 2022, when the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) invited ideas for Azadi Ka Mahotsav to mark 75 years of Indian independence, producer Munjal Shroff and director Tilakraj Shetty pitched the idea of celebrating the country's unsung heroes, through animation.
Impressed by the idea, the I&B Ministry suggested using the popular animation series, Krish Trish and Baltiboy, to spread the good word. Thus was born Krish, Trish and Baltiboy - Bharat Hain Hum that premièred across Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and 28 channels of Doordarshan on October 15.

"How many of us know about Rani Abbakka or Tilak Manjhi? Rani Abbakka fought the British Raj 300 years before Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi did. Tilak Manjhi began his fight as a young tribal lad and became the youngest chieftain at 14. With this series, we hope to give these heroes their rightful place in history," says Shroff of the series co-produced by the I&B Ministry.
The first edition consists of 26 episodes of 11 minutes each. Asked whether an 11-minute narration is too short to do justice to our heroes, Shetty says, "A few stories run into two episodes, like that of Nana Saheb and Tatya Tope. Our idea is to arouse kids' curiosity so that they can seek more information on them." The second season will have 26 episodes as well.
