Singer and rapper Baba Sehgal's father passed away due to COVID-19 and the news was confirmed by Sehgal on his social media account. On Instagram, he wrote, "Dad left us today early morning. Please keep him in your prayers. Stay safe & blessed." He also shared a collage of some of his pictures with the family and a video right in the end.

Abhishek Bachchan said, "Deepest condolences. Prayers." Vir Das wrote, "I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending love to you and yours." Gulshan Devaiah said, "Sincere condolences Baba Sorry for your loss." In an interview a few years back, the singer said he's not made for Bollywood. "I'm not made for Bollywood. Bollywood has never gotten along with me. It's always been a little scared and insecure," he stated.
He added, "Before 'Thanda thanda paani', I had gone to Bappi Lahiri's bungalow to give him my cassette. He heard my song and said it's nice, I will call you when it's time. I used to wonder how will you call me when you don't have my number," Baba said in a statement.
He continued, "Bappiji's father was alive then, and he was a very nice person. He was like how all fathers are... He used to feel no artiste should go hungry from their home. This was a special trait of Bappiji's family. Whenever you go there, you return with your stomach full which was such an amazing thing."
