Last month, reports of Sara Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Dhanush's collaboration with director Aanand L Rai's next grabbed headlines. And now, here's a twist in the tale! According to news reports, Sara will be seen playing a double role and will be seen romancing both Akshay and Dhanush.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the film is a cross-cultural love story set in Bihar and Madurai and will see Sara romancing Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in the film in two different eras. Speaking to the newspaper, a source said, "While Atrangi Re is primarily a love story set in the heartland, laced with humour, the storytelling is in a zone the filmmaker has not attempted before. The screenplay follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in the parallel."
"It's a double role of sorts for Sara, the idea is to showcase the diverse sides of the actress. Akshay and Dhanush's characters too have a special trait that separates them from the rest of the cast. Their appearances will be in sync with the way they act and react while a special look is being designed for Akshay," the source added.
According to the makers, the film will commence shooting in March, first in Bihar and later in Madurai. Atrangi Re has been written by the National Award winner Himanshu Sharma. AR Rahman will be scoring the music. Last month, the makers announced the film by sharing quirky looks of the trio.

In an exclusive interview with mid-day earlier, Sara had said that she had complete faith in the director's vision for Atrangi Re. "Honestly, when I read the script of Atrangi Re, I wasn't convinced I could do the film. The character is a tough one to pull off, and I want to do one hell of a job trying to prove otherwise. Akshay sir is someone I deeply admire, and Dhanush is a talented and understated actor. The idea is to work with diverse actors," she said.
Atrangi Re reunites Dhanush and Aanand after their 2013 hit Raanjhanaa. The film is a joint production between Colour Yellow Productions, T-Series and Cape Of Good Films.
