There's a lot of talk about keeping movie budgets in check, and actors Kartik Aaryan and director Kabir Khan think it's a good conversation to have. They believe the discussion about increasing star fees and overhead costs is heading in the right direction.

With several big movies flopping recently, there's growing concern in Hindi cinema about the high payments to big stars and the extra costs of their entourages, which also strain the producers' budgets.

Aryan, a leading star in the industry, said that the finances of a film need to make sense in the end.

Kartik Aaryan told PTI in an interview, "There are so many rights of a film when it releases. So you get an ‘x' amount of money out of it. If your star value and the entire project's value gives profit to the entire team, I think then the math adds up. If it doesn't, then you have to, you should take a cut… It's a healthy discussion"

Khan, who directed hits like Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan with Salman Khan, said this conversation started because the industry changed after the pandemic.

"It's a healthy debate and it's getting a positive response from actors, directors, and producers. The audiences, their viewing patterns changed, their habit of coming to theatres got diminished. So there was this whole debate about that if that's diminishing, what are the other avenues where we can earn money from?" He said.

On the work front:

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is all set for the release of his much-awaited film ‘Chandu Champion'. He reportedly essays the role of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist. Murlikant won an individual gold medal in the 1972 Summer Paralympics, in Heidelberg, Germany. He set a world record in the 50 m freestyle swimming event, at 37.33 seconds.

Murlikant Petkar, who suffered debilitating injuries in an aerial attack during the 1965 war with Pakistan and was rendered paraplegic, bagged the first gold medal for India in the Paralympics -- at the 1972 Games at Heidelberg, Germany.

Petkar won gold in 50m freestyle 3 swimming in the then-world record time of 37.33 seconds. He started with a world record time of 38.19 secs.
