Ameesha Patel says Kareena Kapoor was asked to leave 'Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai' by Rakesh Roshan

Ameesha Patel is currently basking in the success of 'Gadar 2' which has crossed Rs 500 crore at the box office. During an interview, the actress revealed that Kareena Kapoor was asked to leave the film 'Kaho Naa..Pyaar Hai'. To give context, Kareena was supposed to mark her debut alongside Hrithik Roshan with the Rakesh Roshan-directorial. The actress had also shot for the film for a coupld of days before leaving the film. While earlier reports suggested that Kareena's mother, Babita Kapoor, pulled her out of the project as she wasn't satisfied with how the story was coming out, Ameesha claimed that "he [Rakesh Roshan] had asked her [Kareena] to leave the film."

Talking to Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha Patel claimed that Rakesh Roshan and Kareena Kapoor has difference due to which she got replaced. "Actually, she didn't back out. From what Rakesh ji told me, he asked her to leave the film because they were having differences." The actress said that the makers had to find the replacement for the character of Sonia in three days as the sets was built. "And Pinkie [Roshan] aunty, his wife and Hrithik's mom, said that they were shocked because the set was ready, and a replacement Sonia had to be found in three days, and crores of rupees (had been spent) on that set, and it was Hrithik's debut and everyone was stressed."

Talking about how she was cast in the film, Ameesha said that Rakesh Roshan spotted her at a wedding and decided to cast in the film. The actress also said that when she was offered Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, she had no idea about the back story. Ameesha said, "Pinky aunty told me that the day Rakesh saw me at the wedding, he did not sleep all night. He was like ‘I got my Sonia, I got my Sonia, but I hope she says yes'. Rakesh uncle always says, ‘This girl paid attention to everything I taught her on sets.' He always praises me and says I was a blessing in disguise."

Kaho Naa...Pyaar hai was released in the year 2000 and starred Hrithik Roshan, Ameesha Patel, Anupam Kher, Mohnish Bahl, Dalip Tahil and Ashish Vidyarthi among others. In 2001, Ameesha was part of the blockbuster film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' opposite Sunny Deol. Years later, Ameesha reprised the role of Sakeena opposite Sunny Deol's Tara Singh. The sequel broke several records at the box office and has now crossed the 500 crore mark at the Indian box office.
