Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha
Although Ali Fazal announced his new Netflix outing Ray earlier this week, fans are eagerly waiting for his comic caper Fukrey, that returns for a third instalment. Expected to be shot through summer across pockets of North India, the Mirzapur actor says, "The new film is not part three, instead it is the fifth part of the franchise. But, the highlight of the film is all of us coming together again."
While the cast, crew and audiences are kicked about the reunion, the primary concern of the Mrighdeep Singh Lamba outing that resumes after five years is to crack the humour. "The jokes, like our lives should evolve. The events of the world will decide how because I can't explain the evolution of humour. It is mature and unscathed," explains Fazal, adding that as an artiste he is sensitive about the kind of comedy they put out in the hypersensitive social media climate now. "While Fukrey never used punch-down humour, we are mindful of what we are laughing at while script-reading or filming. I cannot predict what will make me laugh, but I'm mindful of the corruption that will try and make me censor the horizons of my mind. And that I am guilty of. We read scripts without judgments, but a bad joke is a bad joke."
Featuring Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh and of course Fazal's girlfriend Richa Chadha, who in an earlier interview confessed to mid-day that Fukrey is special because this is where it all started for them. With a broad grin Fazal says, "Life has a long way to go. I am thankful for all that I have received and lost. It all goes hand in hand."
