Akshay Kumar has completed multiple films in the last one-and-a-half years since the lockdown has begun due to the Coronavirus pandemic. His latest film âBellbottom' is all set to open in the cinemas in both 2D and 3D on August 19. He has a strong line-up of films that include Sooryavanshi, Bachchan Pandey, Ram Setu, Atrangi Re, Raksha Bandhan, and another film based on true events with Mission Mangal director Jagan Shakti.
He's currently in London and his quarantine has just ended. This is how he announced the news and also stated what he was missing on the streets of the city. He wrote on his Instagram account- "Just finished my quarantine in London today and stepped out for some fresh air. One look around and I was immediately transported to Ratlam which I remember visiting as a child during my summer vacations. Anywhere I'd see, I could see green." [SIC]

His last film âLaxmii' directly streamed on OTT due to the cinemas being shut. This is his first theatrical release since âGood Newwz' that came out in December 2019. How does he feel? He recently spoke to IANS and said, I am really excited about 'Bellbottom' releasing in theatres. People, my fingers crossed with everything. Hope everything works out."
Directed by Ranjit M. Tiwari, 'Bellbottom' also stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta Bhupathi and Huma Qureshi. It was shot amid the Covid-19 lockdown last year in Glasgow.
Was Akshay, who is fondly called the "Khiladi" of Bollywood, apprehensive about stepping out of the house amid such a torrid time?
"No, I didn't think of it that way because I just said to Vashu Bhagnani, who is my producer, to take care of everything and make sure that the protocols are followed and everybody is masked and washes their hands and whatever the protocols are and let's go for it," said the actor.
Akshay added: "He took the leap and here we are. We started it last year and we are here. The movie is ready and we are about to release it."
