The reason for this sudden interest in spy thrillers is due to his interaction with top cop Rakesh Maria. Last week the actor released Zero Dial penned by J Dey, editor of investigations, Mid Day where Maria was the special guest. The book is about police informers.
At the event, the star had a chat with the cop who provided him with some interesting facts on informers and how they are vital to the police force.
Says a source, "Ajay was fascinated by what Rakesh Maria told him. He did not realise how crucial their tip-offs are. Their world is laced with fear yet they do they do the job risking their lives. He began thinking about a project which took on the subjects on spies and espionage."
Adds the source, "He has played a cop in several films. Now now he wants to be on the other side, on the field, gathering the information for the authorities."
Confirms Devgn, "I found the stories of spies and informers intriguing. I did not know how crucial they are for cops. I am now looking forward to essay one such character in the near future."
