At a recent international faith conference in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, Vivek Oberoi was overwhelmed by the warmth showered on him by the Dalai Lama.
Vivek fills us in on the details, "It happened on April 3. It's a beautiful exercise conducted by Swami Chidanand Saraswati. The Swami has been bringing together leaders from all religions for years to promote peace, love and harmony amongst various faiths. The Dalai Lama attended as the leader of Buddhism."
The Swami had asked Vivek to escort the Dalai Lama to the stage. He gushes, "The Dalai Lama has such a pure innocent and childlike laugh. He took an instant liking to me and wanted me to sit next to him but I sat near his feet. I was so humbled by the love and blessings he gave me. He spontaneously kissed my forehead and I was moved to tears."

The two even compared notes on India and China. "The Dalai Lama said that though China is perceived to be economically superior to us, in terms of spiritual growth and bliss, we are far superior." And when Vivek read out a Hindi poem, the Dalai Lama grabbed and kissed him. "He really liked it," beams Vivek.u00a0
u00a0Swami Chidanand invited Vivek to represent the youth. "It's such a great cause that I thought I must go ahead though I have been very busy with the crazy promotions of my film, Prince, which releases this week. But I knew I had to take this time off, as it's great to represent the youth who don't believe in divisive policies."
